Cochrane welcomes new Support Officer for Cochrane Geographic Groups, Networks, & Fields

Cochrane welcomes new member, Karla Duque Jacome

Cochrane US Network welcomed Karla Duque Jacome in April 2024 as the new Program Manager for Cochrane Geographic Groups & Fields.  We hope you will join us in extending her a warm welcome and please make some time to read her introduction below.

Working in Cochrane has always been a dream of mine so I’m thankful for the lovely welcome and encouraged by the positive attitude of everyone I’ve met in my first week. I am looking forward to meeting the amazing people that belong to our Geographic Groups & Fields and the Cochrane Central Executive Team (CET). I am honoured to be able to work with a community of diverse health professionals that stand for integration and accessibility.  I am a medical doctor from Ecuador with a Master in Public Health from the University of Sheffield in the UK. I have 7 years experience in clinical and administrative healthcare settings, working in auditing of quality of care and in bariatric medicine program management and implementation. I have been an active member of Cochrane since 2018 working mostly on Plain Language Summary (PLS) of reviews. I have worked with a diverse communities from various countries, with multiple languages and with various stakeholders. I am currently living in beautiful Oakham in the UK with my husband but I am still very much in love with my home country of Ecuador, where I  lived in Quito, located in the Andes, and worked on various projects in the Amazon region. I enjoy reading books, travelling and international movies.

I  look forward to working with this amazing global community to increase our reach and meet our goals of accessibility and inclusion. I am here to serve our international network of groups around the world. Please, if you feel I can help, feel free to drop me an email at kduquejacome@cochrane.org.
